Origin and Description:
Hoya seed002 is an intriguing variety with an unknown parentage, as the grower who released the seeds was unable to trace the exact lineage. Despite the mystery surrounding its origins, this Hoya has proven to be an adaptable and resilient plant. Its thick, fleshy leaves sunstress beautifully, developing reddish hues when exposed to bright light. It is also quite drought-tolerant, making it a low-maintenance option for those who may forget to water regularly.

Natural Habitat:
Though the exact natural habitat is unknown, based on its growth habits, Hoya seed002 thrives in conditions similar to tropical epiphytic plants. It is heat-loving and performs best in environments with ample warmth and indirect light.

Care Instructions:

  • Light: Loves bright, indirect light and sunstresses beautifully when exposed to more intense light, developing rich, reddish tones.
  • Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Its drought-tolerant nature means it can handle less frequent watering without issue.
  • Humidity: Can tolerate average household humidity but thrives in environments with moderate humidity (40-60%).
  • Temperature: Prefers warmer temperatures, ideally between 70-85°F (21-29°C). Loves heat, so it can tolerate higher temperatures better than some other Hoyas.
  • Soil: A well-draining mix, such as orchid bark and perlite, is ideal to prevent overwatering and root rot.

PLEASE NOTE - The plant you'll receive might not have the coloration as the stock photo. The environment plays a big role with the sunstressing of these plants and depending on the season, our plants might be greener than pictured.

Care Needs

Bright diffused light

Recreate conditions under a tree canopy, where plants receive lots of light, but it is filtered through the foliage of the trees above. Your light should be bright enough to cast soft shadows.

Low Humidity: Ideally Above 40%

This Hoya tolerates a drier environment. However, it could still benefit from light humidity care, including misting and grouping together with other houseplants. May require humidifier in cooler, drier months.

Intermediate: Lowest 60F

This hoya does not require high heat, but does not tolerate cold as well as other varieties.

Does Sunstress

This plant has evolved to shift color when exposed to bright sunlight, much like a human getting a tan. This does not harm the plant with proper care.
