Hoya phuwuaensis, formerly known as Hoya sp. Phu Wua, is a recent addition to the world of Hoyas, having been discovered in Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary in northeastern Thailand around five years ago.

The plant has woody stems and ruffled leaf edges, similar to the well-known Hoya Caudata. Its flowers, which are star-shaped with a creamy color and a red center, are similar to those of Hoya caudata and Hoya flagellata, but Hoya phuwuaensis is much easier to grow. This hoya is an excellent choice for those who want to work their way up to more demanding plants, and it is just as rewarding to see it flower.

Recreate a dense forest environment. Very little, if any, direct sunlight should hit the plant at any time of the day.

Low Humidity: Ideally Above 40%

This Hoya tolerates a drier environment. However, it could still benefit from light humidity care, including misting and grouping together with other houseplants. May require humidifier in cooler, drier months.

Intermediate: Lowest 60F

This hoya does not require high heat, but does not tolerate cold as well as other varieties.

Does Not Sunstress

This plant will not change color under bright light.
