Hoya pentaphlebia is a stunning plant that is named after the five prominent primary veins that appear on both sides of the leaves, especially visible in the younger leaves.

This species was first collected by Maximo Ramos in the Cauayan Valley, Samar Island in the Philippines on March 9th, 1914.

The plant boasts gorgeous big green leavesthat can reach up to 6 inches long by 4.5 inches wide (about 160 mm by 90 mm), some with a beautiful bronze color that intensifies with increased light exposure. During winter, almost all leaves get this stunning bronze color, but ensure that you protect the Hoya from cool temperatures.

Hoya pentaphlebia produces peduncles of beautiful yellow flowers that are about 15mm in diameter and an entire umbel measuring approximately 40 mm across. The flowers have an unusual and pleasant citrus fragrance, making them a wonderful addition to any space. It is a highly rewarding plant that is sure to make any Hoya collector's wish list.

Care Needs

Bright diffused light

Recreate conditions under a tree canopy, where plants receive lots of light, but it is filtered through the foliage of the trees above. Your light should be bright enough to cast soft shadows.

Low Humidity: Ideally Above 40%

This Hoya tolerates a drier environment. However, it could still benefit from light humidity care, including misting and grouping together with other houseplants. May require humidifier in cooler, drier months.

Intermediate: Lowest 60F

This hoya does not require high heat, but does not tolerate cold as well as other varieties.

Does Sunstress

This plant has evolved to shift color when exposed to bright sunlight, much like a human getting a tan. This does not harm the plant with proper care.
