Description:
Hoya memoria x IR26 is a stunning hybrid between Hoya memoria and Hoya collina (IR26). This hybrid showcases the best traits of its parent plants, featuring beautiful foliage and the potential for charming blooms.

Foliage:
The leaves of Hoya memoria x IR26 are typically elongated and have a glossy finish. In bright light or cooler temperatures, the leaves can develop a reddish or purplish hue due to sunstress. However, this color change is cosmetic and does not affect the plant’s health. Without sunstress, the leaves remain a lush green.

Growth Habit:
This Hoya hybrid is an epiphytic vine, meaning it naturally grows on other plants in its native habitat. It has a trailing or climbing habit, making it suitable for hanging baskets or trellises. The plant thrives in bright, indirect light and appreciates moderate to high humidity.

Care Instructions:

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate some direct sunlight, which may cause the leaves to become sunstressed and change color.
  • Watering: Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
  • Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity. Regular misting or using a humidity tray can help maintain moisture levels.
  • Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 60°F to 80°F (15°C to 27°C). Protect from temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
  • Soil: Requires well-draining soil. A mix of orchid bark, perlite, and peat moss works well.

Care Needs

Bright diffused light

Recreate conditions under a tree canopy, where plants receive lots of light, but it is filtered through the foliage of the trees above. Your light should be bright enough to cast soft shadows.

Low Humidity: Ideally Above 40%

This Hoya tolerates a drier environment. However, it could still benefit from light humidity care, including misting and grouping together with other houseplants. May require humidifier in cooler, drier months.

Intermediate: Lowest 60F

This hoya does not require high heat, but does not tolerate cold as well as other varieties.

Does Sunstress

This plant has evolved to shift color when exposed to bright sunlight, much like a human getting a tan. This does not harm the plant with proper care.
